The Giant, The Saint, The Magpie
Original poem by Nick Maione, inspired by a folktale from the south of France near Saint-Guilhem-le-Désert.
This crankie was created with Sarah Frank, Luke Fraser of the Bombadils for a poetry and music project in 2016. Performed live with music by the Bombadils!
Note: A “crankie” is a nickname for an old story-telling device where the visual element exists on a roll of paper (back-lit) or quilt or some such thing (front-lit) and is hand-cranked on dowels to advance as the story is told.
POETRY MIXTAPE was hosted by Lindsey Webb, airing each Saturday on WMUA in Amherst, MA and each Sunday on MOUNT ANALOGUE until September 2016. In July 2016 I was asked on as a guest, and enjoyed curating the last-half of the show and talking with Lindsey about poetry as experienced off of the page in ancient and new ways.
